Green Homes

What is a "Green Home"?

It is a house that is good for the environment.

They don`t use much electricity.
They also make their own power!


Caterpillar House
California
The roof of this house collects solar energy and rain water. It can collect 27,300 gallons of rainwater.

Maine

This home uses almost no energy.  It will save up to $170,000 in energy costs over 30 years.




Kumuhau Subdivision
Hawaii

This home has no air conditioning. It uses a lot of fans. It collects a lot of solar energy.  Two-thirds of their electricity comes from solar power.

This Green Home is strange. Most Green Homes are new. This one is 264 years old.
